What do you do?

Do you know what to do when you only have seconds to save a person's life? American Heart Association-certified, HEART Mobile CPR offers Basic Life Support (BLS), CPR, and First Aid training at two Columbus locations while also going on-site at customer locations to train larger groups. HEART Mobile covers all of Ohio and portions of neighboring states. We also offer specialty CPR and First Aid classes and medical certification classes and programs (MedCA Phlebotomy Technician, DODD Medical Administration).  Teaching people how to prevent accidents is key and also a focus of our classes and programs.

What inspired you to start your business?

Around 350,000 Americans die each year of heart disease and my father had 3 lifelong friends pass away. As a nurse, I wanted to do something that could prevent this from happening, especially to my father. What better way than to give people the knowledge of prevention as well as how to save a life?

What's special about your business?

We come to you on your time. We are fun and informative.

What have been the high and low points of being a business owner?

The high points were becoming a Training Site Faculty member as well as the Ohio region training coordinator for Cardio Partners. The low points were the blood sweat and tears of building the business. I have been blessed to have a great team that never gave up on a dream.

What influenced you to seek help from SCORE?

My business partner told me they could help me get started and be more successful.

How SCORE helped.

My mentor's ideas have led me down paths I would have never thought of. She has truly helped build this business into what it is today.

What's great about my mentor?

She always has time for me. I think starting up I was very overwhelmed. I had many questions and Leslie was always there for me. She is very knowledgeable and will find the answer if she doesn’t know it offhand.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting a small business?

Have a well-thought-through plan and a good support system. There are many ups and downs, but don't give up.

What have you learned from your experiences as a business owner?

Starting a business Is extremely hard as well as dealing with other people and stress.
