I have worked primarily for and on behalf of non-profit organizations and am committed to support efforts to establish sustainable non-profits that serve societal needs. I started an entrepreneurship education outreach program for small businesses in Washington State and I was a certified trainer in NEXTLevel Business Development skills. Additionally, I have worked in Higher Education administration, from 1995-2003, as dean, leading and managing the College of Agriculture, Human and Natural Resource Sciences, Washington State University. At North Carolina State University, (2006-2011), I served as Vice Chancellor for the Office of Extension, Engagement and Economic Development. This office was responsible for all the outreach programs of NCSU across the state of North Carolina, including the Small Business Technology Development Center and the Industrial Extension Service. I also served as a program officer at W.K. Kellogg Foundation (1994-95), funding non-profit organizations in community and economic development. I have also worked at Cornell University, and Michigan State University. I have had a property management business, a consulting business on grant proposal development for federal agencies and private foundations, and currently I am a consultant and executive coach to higher education.
